# Tourist Tax Keeper: UK tourist tax (visitor levy) calculator > Free calculator, Wales registration check and MCP tool for UK holiday let hosts, B&Bs, guest houses and small hotels, covering the Scottish visitor levies (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Stirling, West Dunbartonshire) and the Welsh visitor levy and register (Cardiff, rest of Wales). Made by Nero Labs (Nero Engine Group Ltd, company 16521432). General information, not tax or legal advice. Rules checked 1 October 2026. Key rules (from official council and Welsh Revenue Authority guidance): - The host (accommodation provider) owes the levy, even when the guest booked through Airbnb or Booking.com. Airbnb does not pay it to the council for the host. - Edinburgh: 5% of the accommodation price (without VAT if VAT registered), first 5 nights of each booking only, for stays starting on or after 24 July 2026 (bookings paid before 1 October 2025 can be exempt). Compulsory cleaning fees count. Hosts keep 2% for admin. Quarterly returns on visitorlevy.scot; stays go in the quarter of their check-out date. First return (stays 24 July to 30 September 2026) due 30 October 2026, payment by 13 November 2026. Next: 30 January 2027, payment by 13 February 2027. - Glasgow: 5%, every night, from 25 January 2027 (bookings from 1 April 2026), hosts keep 1.5%. - Aberdeen: 7%, every night, from 1 April 2027. Stirling: 3% from 14 June 2027 (guests can claim back nights after the 7th). West Dunbartonshire: 5% from 1 July 2027, hosts keep 1.5%. - Scotland: cancellations and no-shows owe nothing; records kept for 5 years from the date the return is filed. - Wales registration: every host in Wales who takes paid overnight bookings, any of them for 31 nights or less, must register with the Welsh Revenue Authority by 31 March 2027 (free, opened 1 October 2026), even where there is no levy. Fines: GBP 100 per property, then GBP 10 a day for up to 30 days, then a further GBP 1,000 per property. - Cardiff levy: GBP 1.30 per person per night (all ages), or GBP 0.75 for tent pitches and dorm beds where under-18s are free, for stays from 1 April 2027 on bookings made from 28 September 2026. A single booking of more than 31 nights pays nothing. Quarterly returns due 60 days after the quarter end (first: 29 August 2027), or annually by 31 May if the year's levy is GBP 1,000 or less. Records kept for 6 years. No host retention. - England: no tourist tax for holiday lets yet. The government has confirmed mayors will get the power, but it needs a new law first, so nothing is expected before 2027 or 2028.
